The affected lamps were sold in both clear and coated versions through electrical supply distributors from May 2011 through June 2012 for about $40 each.

The recall is due to a hazard where the outer bulbs can shatter, causing hot internal pieces of glass to fall from the lamps. This poses a risk of burns and lacerations to consumers. The company has received two reports of lamps shattering, but no injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lamps and contact Philips Lighting for a free replacement. Affected lamps can be identified by an etching on the base or ovoid that displays the Philips name, 330W wattage, model CDM330, and one of the following date codes: 1E (May 2011), 1F (June 2011), 1G (July 2011), 1H (August 2011), 1J (September 2011), 1K (October 2011), 1L (November 2011), or 1M (December 2011).
