Cane Creek Recalls DBINLINE Bicycle Rear Shocks Due to Incorrect Markings

Cane Creek is recalling DBINLINE rear shocks because incorrect graphics mislead riders on adjustment directions, posing a fall hazard.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (fall hazard) where injury has been reported (bruises), fitting the 'High' severity criteria for products where injury has not yet been reported as severe or fatal, but a hazard exists.

Plain-English summary

Cane Creek Cycling Components is recalling approximately 5,000 DBINLINE bicycle rear shock absorbers in the United States and 500 in Canada. The recall involves shocks that are marked with graphics incorrectly identifying the adjustment directions for High Speed Rebound (HSR) damping. The plus and minus symbols are switched, which can mislead consumers when adjusting the suspension, causing unexpected behavior and posing a fall hazard to the rider.

The affected shocks are black anodized aluminum with "INLINE" marked on the air can and are attached to full-suspension mountain bike frames. Recalled products have serial numbers on the underside of the top valve body in the ranges AA00002 - AA07304 and SA00077 - SA03926. The shocks were sold separately or included in the price of various 2015 model mountain bikes from brands such as Alutech, Banshee, Bianchi, Canyon, Ghost, Guerilla, Ibis, Intense, Knolly, Nicolai, Norco, Nukeproof, Orange, and Specialized.

Cane Creek has received four complaints from customers, one of which involved a report of injury with bruises in the midsection. Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Cane Creek for a repair decal kit to correct the HSR adjustment markings.
