The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling approximately 40 units of the 2013 Diamondback Steilacoom RCX bicycle. The recall is due to a hazard where bicycles assembled with incorrect headset parts could experience steerer tube failure, causing the rider to lose control and fall or crash.

The affected bicycles are black, sold in sizes ranging from 50-cm to 59-cm, and feature "RCX" printed on the top tube. They were sold online through Promotive.com and 3point5.com, as well as through authorized Diamondback retailers nationwide, from August 2012 through September 2012 for between $900 and $1,100. The bicycles were manufactured by Universal Cycle Corp. in Guang Zhou, China, and imported by Diamondback Bicycles in Kent, Washington.

No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers should stop riding the bicycle immediately and take it to an authorized Diamondback dealer for inspection. Bicycles found to have the incorrect headset parts will have the fork replaced and be assembled with the correct parts at no charge.
