These products were manufactured by Neil Pryde Limited in Hong Kong and imported by Adventure Sports Inc dba Pryde Group Americas. The recall was initiated because the Recoil™ spring mounted along the depower mainline can jam. This malfunction can lead to a loss of control of the kite, posing a risk of injury to the user.

The affected 1X control systems (model number KS51XCSFX) are available in 45 cm and 55 cm sizes. The Overdrive 1X systems (model number KS5CSSDODO) are adjustable and available in 48-56 cm and 57-62 cm sizes. Model numbers are located on a cloth tab attached to the bungee line restrainers at the end of the bars. Cabrinha has received two reports of the spring jamming, but no injuries have been reported.

These products were sold at Sea & Sky Sports, Scratch Kiteboarding, Watersports West, Wind Over Water, Wind Stalkers Kite Boarding, and other specialty watersports stores and websites worldwide in August 2014 for about $570. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled control systems and contact a Cabrinha authorized dealer for a free repair part.
