Plain-English summary
Grandin Road is recalling about 2,200 vintage-inspired, iron chairs from its Alsace Furniture Collection. The chairs, which have item number 45665 on the sales receipt, were sold in apricot, blue, green, red, or yellow. They feature a shaped metal seat and legs over a metal tube frame with an arched metal tube back. The chairs were manufactured in India by K&K Exporters of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and imported by Cinmar, LLC, of West Chester, Ohio.
The recall is due to a fall and injury hazard. The chairs' back legs can bend when a seated person leans back. Grandin Road is aware of eight reports of the back legs bending, including three reports of minor injuries.
The chairs were sold through the Grandin Road catalog and online at www.grandinroad.com from September 2011 to February 2012 for between $149 and $189. Consumers should stop using the recalled chairs immediately and contact Grandin Road for instructions on how to receive a full refund in the form of a merchandise credit for the value of the purchase price, plus applicable shipping, handling, and taxes. Grandin Road is also contacting its customers directly.
