Surly Bikes, a brand of Quality Bicycle Products, Inc., is recalling approximately 975 Surly Pugsley 100mm and 135mm bicycle forks. The recall involves tubular chromoly steel forks that can bend above the disc brake mount, which poses a fall hazard to the rider. Surly Bikes has received one report of a fork bending, but no injuries have been reported.
The affected 100mm forks are black, have triple water bottle mounts on each side, and feature date code 2012 03 20 stamped on the steerer tube. The 135mm forks are black, yellow, or red, and feature date code 2012 06 19 stamped on the steerer tube. These forks were sold individually or as part of 2013 model year complete bicycles from May 2012 through February 2013 at bicycle stores nationwide and on various websites.
Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles equipped with the recalled Surly bicycle fork. They should contact a Surly dealer for a free inspection and replacement or a full refund.
