These detectors were installed by ADT between October 2008 and December 2010 as part of home security systems. The model number is located behind the front cover of the device.

The recall is due to a wiring defect where some detectors were not properly connected to the ADT alarm system. When these detectors reach the end of their useful life, they are supposed to send a signal to the home alarm panel to make a sound and notify ADT's monitoring center. Due to the improper wiring, the sound may not go off, and no signal may be sent to the monitoring center. Failing to replace a carbon monoxide detector at the end of its useful life poses a carbon monoxide poisoning hazard to consumers. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should contact ADT immediately for a free inspection of the recalled detectors and, if necessary, a free repair. Consumers should not attempt to disable the recalled detectors.
