CPSC Re-announces Recall of Meijer Roman Shades and Roll-Up Blinds

What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (strangulation hazard) where no injuries have been reported, which aligns with the rubric criteria for a High severity score.
Plain-English summary
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Meijer are re-announcing a recall for approximately 3,200 units of "Innovations" and "At Home with Meijer" Roman shades and roll-up blinds. These products were originally recalled in March 2010 but were subsequently redistributed to stores and sold to consumers between March 2010 and September 2011 without the required repair kits. The Roman shades are made of fabric or bamboo, while the roll-up blinds are made of bamboo, and they feature labels reading "Innovation" or "At Home with Meijer" under the headrail.
The recall is issued because the products pose a strangulation hazard. For Roman shades, a child could place their neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric or pull the cord out and wrap it around their neck. For roll-up blinds, lifting loops could slide off the side, allowing a child's neck to become entangled in the free-standing loop or between the loop and the blind material. No injuries have been reported in connection with this specific recall.
Consumers should immediately stop using these products. They can contact the Window Covering Safety Council at (800) 506-4636 or visit www.windowcoverings.org to obtain a free repair kit. Alternatively, consumers can return the products to any Meijer store for a full refund. For additional information, consumers may contact Meijer at (800) 927-8699 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
