Plain-English summary
Weehoo Inc. is recalling about 2,700 units of the 2011 Weehoo iGo bicycle pedal trailers. The recall involves trailers manufactured between April 2011 and July 2011 and sold at bicycle retail stores nationwide for about $390. The recalled trailers feature a steel frame, an adjustable seat for passengers 38 to 52 inches tall, two pedals with straps, an enclosed sprocket and chain, a 20-inch wheel, two pannier pockets, and a flagpole with a flag. The serial numbers for the recalled trailers contain the letter "D" and are located on the underside of the iGo frame, by the pedals.
The recall is due to a defect in the receiver on the trailer's seat post hitch, which can crack and cause the trailer to detach from the bicycle. This poses fall and crash hazards to the child in the seat. CPSC and Weehoo have received one report of the trailer's receiver cracking while in use, but no injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled iGo trailers and contact Weehoo for a repair. Consumers will receive a steel reinforcement sleeve to be installed over the receiver. For additional information, consumers can contact Weehoo at (800) 538-6950 or visit www.weehoobicycletrailer.com.
