REI is recalling approximately 5,200 Novara Afterburner trailer bicycles. These single-wheel children's bicycles attach to and cannot be operated independently of an adult bicycle. The recall was initiated because the trailer bicycle can detach from the adult bicycle, which poses a fall hazard to children.

REI has received one report of a trailer bicycle detaching from an adult bicycle, but no injuries have been reported. The affected units were sold at REI stores nationwide from February 2007 through June 2007 for about $160. The bicycles were manufactured in China.
