The product was sold in hair salons and beauty supply stores nationwide from January 1998 through February 2011 for between $4 and $16.

The aerosol container's liner can corrode over time, which poses a risk of the cans rupturing and expelling their contents. Redken has received 41 reports of cans rupturing, but no injuries have been reported. Consumers can identify the affected product by checking the lot code printed on the bottom of the can. The recall includes any can with a lot code that does not contain a G or H as the third digit, as well as cans with specific lot codes listed in the official notice.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mousse. They should record the product's lot code and discard the contents by spraying it into a waste container in a well-ventilated area. Before disposing of the container, consumers should obtain the lot code and contact Redken for information on receiving a refund of the purchase price.
