Mitsubishi Outlander liftgate gas springs may corrode and fail
Mitsubishi is recalling certain 2018-2022 Outlander PHEV and 2014-2020 Outlander vehicles sold in certain U.S. states because liftgate gas spring cylinders may corrode and lose pressure, risking rupture or unexpected failure.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: This vehicle recall involves a structural defect in the liftgate support device. Gas spring cylinders may corrode and rupture, causing the liftgate to fall unexpectedly and creating risk of injury. Structural vehicle defects meet the Severe classification threshold.
