Thane International is recalling approximately 580,000 H2O Mop steam cleaners due to a hazard where the power cord can unexpectedly wear down and expose the wiring. This defect poses a shock and burn hazard to consumers. The affected units are white with a purple water tank and feature the "H2O" and "M" symbol on the cleaning head. The recall includes model numbers 808.092 and OEM-TV-001 with specific reference numbers printed on the label on the back of the product.

The company has received 10 reports of incidents involving shock injuries and eight reports of incidents involving burn injuries. The H2O Mops were sold directly to consumers by Thane through television infomercials, on the web, by QVC, and by retailers nationwide from June 2007 through December 2008 for about $100. The products were manufactured in China.

Because Thane International is no longer in business, a remedy is no longer available. Consumers should destroy and discard the recalled product.
