These swivels were manufactured between January 2004 and February 2005 and sold at diving retail stores nationwide for about $60. The swivels have the date stamped on their body below the patent number, and those already repaired have an arrow stamped on the top right corner.

The swivels pose a risk of decompression sickness or drowning because they could separate from the diving mask while underwater. This separation results in a sudden loss of the diver's air supply, forcing an emergency ascent. M&J Engineering has received one report of swivels separating from masks while diving, but no injuries have been reported.
