Starbucks Coffee Company is recalling approximately 257 40-ounce white ceramic teapots with bamboo handles. The teapots are labeled "Microwave and Dishwasher Safe" on the bottom, but the handles can become hot when used in a microwave oven, creating a possible burn hazard for consumers.
The teapots were sold at certain large Starbucks stores nationwide from August 2005 through mid-September 2005 for about $25 each. Starbucks has received one report of a teapot handle overheating in a microwave oven.
Consumers should stop using the teapots immediately. To obtain a full refund and a $5 Starbucks gift card, customers should contact Starbucks Coffee Customer Relations at (800) 235-2883 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET any day for return instructions.
