The recalled harnesses are tan or light brown and feature a label on the tether that reads "Manufactured in 2005" and "Made in China." These harnesses were sold with tree stands or ladders including the Viper X5, Goliath X5, Razor X5, Summit 180o, Bushmaster X5, Broadhead Backpacker, Bullet Backpacker, Clearshot, Openshot, and MegaSampson models.

The recall was issued because the harnesses could fail during use, resulting in consumers falling from tree stands and suffering serious injuries or death. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. The products were distributed by Summit Treestands LLC of Decatur, Alabama, and sold at sporting goods stores nationwide from June 2005 through May 2006 for between $200 and $300, which included the tree stand and harness.
