They feature pointed ends with three black dots and black grommets, and a warning label on the bottom regarding improper installation or misuse.
The recall is due to a fall hazard: the swing seats can unexpectedly break in half, causing users to fall to the ground. Rainbow has received 84 reports of broken swing seats, including one report of an injury where a 2-year-old girl suffered a broken wrist after falling.
The affected seats were sold nationwide through Rainbow distributors and dealers from July 2004 through February 2005. They were part of play structures costing between $1,500 and $2,000, or sold as stand-alone accessories for about $50 to $60. Consumers should immediately stop using these sling swings and contact Rainbow Play Systems or return them to the place of purchase for a free replacement swing. Consumers who have already had their seats replaced by Rainbow are not affected by this recall.
