The recall is due to a defect where the front brake hose can be pulled out of its retaining brackets by foreign objects. This can cause the hose to wear against the inner wheel or shock absorber spring seat, leading to a brake fluid leak and a complete loss of front braking capacity. This condition can increase braking distance and result in a collision with bystanders, fixed objects, or other vehicles, potentially causing serious injury or death. No injuries or deaths have been reported in connection with this defect.
