Honda Recalls TRX400EX and Rancher TRX350 ATVs for Suspension and Brake Defects

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is recalling approximately 126,000 Honda TRX400EX and Rancher TRX350 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The recall addresses two distinct defects: on the Rancher TRX350 models, a front suspension mounting bracket may be improperly welded to the frame, which could break and cause the vehicle to lose steering control and crash. On the TRX400EX models, brake pads may have been assembled incorrectly, potentially causing brake failure that could result in severe injury or death.

Honda has received 98 reports of improper welds on the Rancher TRX350 models, with no injuries or incidents reported. Additionally, the company received 53 reports of incorrectly assembled brake pads on the TRX400EX models, resulting in two consumer injuries, including a sprained wrist and bruising. These ATVs were sold nationwide by Honda ATV dealers from July 1999 through September 2000 for between $4,000 and $6,000.
