The chairs feature 12-inch double zippers in various motifs, including smiley faces, football shapes, baseball shapes, basketball shapes, and solid neon colors. The zippers were not properly sealed, allowing young children to open them and access the small polystyrene beads inside.

The company is aware of three incidents where the zippers opened freely. In two of these incidents, young children gained access to the small beads, which present suffocation and strangulation hazards. The chairs were sold nationwide at Walmart stores from September 1999 through December 1999 for about $30.

Consumers should inspect their bean bag chairs to see if the zippers can be opened freely.
