The recalled products were sold under the "Woods LockJaw™," "Yellow Jacket® LockJaw™," "Woods' ACDelco," and "LumaPro" brand names. These items were sold at home and hardware stores nationwide from January 1996 through July 2000 for between $12 and $35.

The recall is due to a defect in the plastic housing of the locking plug, which can separate or break. This failure exposes consumers to live wires, creating a risk of electric shock and electrocution. Woods Industries has received three reports of the plug housing separating or breaking, but no injuries have been reported.
