IC Bus school bus body joints may lack sufficient epoxy coverage

International is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB and 2025-2027 IC Bus EVSB school buses because the body panel joint may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: the source states body panels may separate during a crash and that the buses fail a body joint strength standard.

Plain-English summary

International Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB and 2025-2027 IC Bus EVSB school buses. About 2,874 units are potentially affected.

The body panel joint may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength".

NHTSA states that the body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury.

Dealers will inspect and repair the interior vertical joint as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 4, 2026.
