Plain-English summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2025 F-59 and F-53 vehicles due to a defect in the exterior brake light switch. The switch may be incorrectly installed, causing the brake lights to illuminate unexpectedly or fail to illuminate when the brake pedal is activated. This condition causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108.

The defect increases the risk of a crash because brake lights may not function properly while driving. Additionally, the vehicle may be shifted out of park without the brake pedal being applied, which increases the risk of a rollaway and crash.

Dealers will replace the stop light switch free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 30, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C01.
