Honda CBR650R wiring damage can blow the fuse for lights
Honda is recalling certain 2024-2025 CBR650R motorcycles because engine vibration may damage the turn signal switch wire harness, causing a short circuit and a blown fuse.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: the loss is confined to signalling, lighting and instrumentation while the motorcycle retains control, braking and propulsion.
Plain-English summary
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024-2025 CBR650R motorcycles. About 2,155 units are potentially affected.
Engine vibration may cause the turn signal switch wire harness to become damaged, which can cause an electrical short circuit and blown fuse. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment".
NHTSA states that a blown fuse will cause a loss of turn signal, brake light, speedometer and horn function, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Dealers will inspect and repair the turn signal switch wire harness as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 9, 2026. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
