2025 Nissan Frontier Daytime Running Lights Software Error
Nissan is recalling certain 2025 Nissan Frontier vehicles due to a software logic error that may cause daytime running lights to dim unexpectedly when the idle start-stop feature cycles the engine, posing a crash risk.
What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: No injuries or deaths are reported in the source text; the hazard is a potential increase in crash risk from lighting that does not comply with federal standards. This is a precautionary recall with theoretical risk, warranting a Moderate score.
Plain-English summary
Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2025 Nissan Frontier vehicles. The vehicles have a software logic error in the engine control module that may cause the daytime running lights to dim unexpectedly when the idle start-stop feature cycles the engine from off to on. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Daytime running lights that dim unexpectedly may cause confusion to other vehicles or pedestrians, increasing the risk of a crash.
