Volvo truck idler gear can detach from the engine causing stall

Volvo Trucks is recalling certain 2022-2025 VN and 2025 New VN trucks because improperly tightened idler gear bracket fasteners may allow the idler gear to detach from the engine.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: a gear detaching inside the engine is a structural failure that the source states causes engine damage and a stall.
