Ford Super Duty steering column shifters may be improperly welded

Ford is recalling certain 2025 Super Duty F-250, F-350 and F-450 vehicles because the steering column shifter may have been improperly welded and detach from the column.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: A weld defect that can detach the shifter from the steering column and allow a rollaway is a structural vehicle defect, which the rubric places at Severe.

Plain-English summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2025 Super Duty F-250, F-350 and F-450 vehicles under NHTSA campaign number 25V163000. The potential number of units affected is 11,621.

The steering column shifter may have been improperly welded and detach from the steering column. According to NHTSA, a detached shifter will prevent the driver from shifting into park, which can result in a vehicle rollaway and increase the risk of a crash.
