Plain-English summary
Suzuki Motor USA, LLC is recalling certain 2022-2024 GSX1300R (Hayabusa) motorcycles. The brake master cylinder internal rubber components may swell due to contamination from the brake fluid cap diaphragm. This swelling can block the brake fluid port, reducing braking effectiveness.
The blocked brake fluid port can extend the distance required to stop a motorcycle. This increases the risk of crashes. The affected motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 122, which governs motorcycle brake systems.
Approximately 6,338 motorcycles are affected. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 25, 2024. Owners should contact Suzuki Customer Service at 1-714-572-1490 to have the recalled components replaced. The remedy includes replacing the brake master cylinder body and brake fluid cap diaphragm at no cost. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
This recall expands and replaces a previous recall (23V-088) issued in 2023. Motorcycles previously recalled under that number will need the new remedy completed.
