Bus Fuel Filter Hoses May Disconnect; Fire and Stall Risk

Nova Bus is recalling certain 2022-2023 LFS buses due to secondary fuel filter hoses with insufficient crimping that may disconnect and leak. A fuel leak could cause a fire or engine stall.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a fuel system defect that creates potential fire and crash hazards. However, no injuries, deaths, or actual incidents have been reported, and the hazards are theoretical rather than realized. Per the rubric, risk-of-harm products without reported illness or injury score at most 3.

Plain-English summary

Nova Bus (US) Inc. is recalling certain 2022 and 2023 Nova Bus LFS buses. The secondary fuel filter hoses may have insufficient crimping, which can cause them to disconnect and leak fuel.

When fuel leaks in the presence of an ignition source, the risk of fire increases. If fuel leaks away completely, the engine may stall, which increases the risk of a crash.

This recall affects approximately 52 vehicles. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 5, 2024.

Owners should not drive their vehicles until repairs are completed. Nova Bus dealers will replace the secondary fuel filter hoses at no cost.
