Jeep Cherokee turn signals may not self-cancel after a turn
Chrysler is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Cherokee vehicles because the turn signal self-cancelling feature may not work properly, failing FMVSS 108.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: the signalling function is degraded rather than lost, no component fails structurally, and the source records no incidents.
Plain-English summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. About 12,221 units are potentially affected.
The turn signal self-cancelling feature may not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment".
NHTSA states that turn signals that do not function properly may fail to indicate the driver's intention to change vehicle direction, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect and replace the steering column control module as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 8, 2024. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403, referencing recall number 24B, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
