Plain-English summary
Porsche Cars North America is recalling multiple electric vehicle models from 2019 to 2024. When using the industrial 220V/240V charging cable at 100% charge setting, some home power outlets may be incapable of handling the required electrical current, causing the outlet or charging cable to overheat. An overheated outlet or charging cable can increase the risk of fire.
The recall affects approximately 41,345 vehicles across multiple Porsche models and model years, including the Taycan, Cayenne E-Hybrid, Panamera E-Hybrid, and related variants. Owners were notified by mail beginning October 24, 2024.
Owners are advised not to use the 220V/240V charging cable. Instead, use only the 110V home charging cable or public charging stations. Porsche dealers will supply a new 220V/240V cable with an incorporated temperature sensor at no charge. Owners can contact Porsche at 1-800-767-7243 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) for more information.
