Volkswagen Atlas and Cross Sport trailing arm bolt defect recall

Volkswagen is recalling certain 2022 Atlas and 2022-2023 Cross Sport vehicles because driver-side rear trailing arm bolts may loosen and fall out, risking loss of vehicle control.

Plain-English summary

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2022 Volkswagen Atlas FL and 2022-2023 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport vehicles. The driver-side rear trailing arm bolts may not have been tightened properly during manufacturing, allowing them to loosen and potentially fall out.

If the bolts fall out, the trailing arm may fracture, resulting in a sudden loss of vehicle control. This defect increases the risk of a crash.

The recall affects an estimated 33 vehicles. Owners should contact their Volkswagen dealer to have the driver-side rear trailing arm bolts replaced free of charge. Volkswagen owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on December 25, 2022.
