2022 Jeep Wrangler Fuel Pump Engine Stall Recall

Chrysler is recalling 2020-2022 Jeep Wranglers, Gladiators, and Ram 1500s due to potential fuel pump failure that may cause engine stall, increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace the pump at no cost.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a real safety hazard where a fuel pump failure can cause engine stall and increase crash risk. However, no injuries or property damage are reported, so per the rubric this qualifies as 'risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported,' warranting High severity.

Plain-English summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Jeep Wrangler, Ram 1500, and 2021-2022 Jeep Gladiator vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. The high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) in these vehicles may fail. Approximately 60,413 vehicles are affected.

When the HPFP fails, the engine will stall. An engine stall while driving can increase the risk of a crash.

Affected owners should contact a Chrysler dealer to have the HPFP replaced free of charge, and to have additional fuel system components inspected and replaced if necessary. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 17, 2023. For assistance, contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
