Plain-English summary
Certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles are affected by a software defect in the Skid Control Electronic Control Unit (ECU). When a driver manually disables the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system, the software may fail to re-enable it when the vehicle is restarted.
This defect violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 126, which requires proper Electronic Stability Control functionality. According to the manufacturer, driving with a deactivated stability control system increases the risk of a crash.
