A fractured drive pinion may contact the brake drop hose and unintentionally engage the parking brake. This can occur without detection or without activating brake lights, increasing the risk of a crash.

Meritor will work with affected vehicle manufacturers to inspect and replace the differential carrier assembly or gear sets, as necessary, free of charge. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall number 21E-098.
