Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2021 and 2022 Ford Escape vehicles, along with certain 2021 and 2022 Bronco Sport vehicles. The rear brake linings may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can affect braking performance.
During braking, drivers may need to apply more brake pedal force than normal, and the distance required to stop the vehicle may be extended. This increases the risk of a crash. The affected vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 135 (Light Vehicle Brake Systems).
The recall affects approximately 114,666 vehicles. Dealers will replace the brake pads at no charge to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 17, 2022.
