Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and 2022 Ford Escape vehicles equipped with 1.5L gasoline engines. A fuel injector may crack and leak fuel inside the engine compartment.
When fuel leaks in the engine compartment and contacts hot engine components or exhaust parts, it can increase the risk of a vehicle fire.
Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 to arrange service. Dealers will update the engine control software to include fuel injector leak detection and install a drain tube free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 24, 2024. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional information.
This recall (NHTSA Campaign 24V187000) affects approximately 42,652 vehicles and expands on previous recall 22V-859.
