Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2014-2016 Star Trans school buses. The recall addresses a defect where the rear emergency exit window labels are not in the correct location and provide instructions for only one release mechanism instead of two. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."
The incorrect window label instructions may prevent or delay the use of the emergency exit in an emergency, increasing the risk of injury. The recall affects 468 vehicles.
Dealers will install new labels on the rear emergency exit windows free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 22, 2022. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-800-348-7440 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
