2020-2021 Nissan vehicles recalled for failed turn signal bulbs

Nissan is recalling certain 2020-2021 Versa, Titan, and Titan XD vehicles because the front turn signal bulbs can crack and fail to illuminate, increasing the risk of crashes.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The defect is a functional safety failure (turn signal bulbs that crack and fail to illuminate), which creates a documented risk of crashes due to inability to alert other drivers. However, no injuries, deaths, or illnesses are reported in the source text. Per the rubric, a risk-of-harm product without reported injuries scores as High (3).

Plain-English summary

Nissan is recalling certain 2020-2021 Nissan Versa, Titan, and Titan XD vehicles. The front right and/or left turn signal bulbs can crack and fail to illuminate.

Inoperable front turn signals cannot alert on-coming drivers and pedestrians that the vehicle will be turning, increasing the risk of a crash.

Approximately 30,799 vehicles are affected. Dealers will inspect and replace the bulbs as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 20, 2021. Owners should contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153). Nissan's recall numbers are PM986 and PC811.
