Plain-English summary

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC is recalling certain 2021-2022 Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner HDX and C2 school buses. The recall involves approximately 479 vehicles. The tie rod clamps in the steering linkage may be loose.

Loose tie rod clamps can allow tie rod ends to break or detach. A detached or broken tie rod end results in loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

DTNA notified vehicle owners by mail beginning December 23, 2021. Dealers will replace the tie rod clamp bolts and nuts at no charge. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 (reference: FL-888) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) for more information.
