Ford Recalls 2020 F-350 SD Trucks Due to Overstated Payload Labels

Ford is recalling 2020 F-350 SD trucks because incorrect labels may lead to overloading. Dealers will replace the labels free of charge.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported, as the defect may lead to vehicle overloading and increased crash risk.

Plain-English summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2020 F-Super Duty F350 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine, single rear wheels, 4X4 Crew Cab, Long Box, and a 12k or 12.4k Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. The recall involves approximately 9,979 vehicles.

These vehicles may display overstated payload capacity values on the Tire and Loading Information (TREAD) Label, overstated Accessory Reserve Capacity (ARC) values on the Safety Certification Label, and overstated weight values on the Truck Camper Loading Documentation. If a vehicle is loaded to the payload stated on the TREAD label, it may exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), potentially overloading the vehicle. An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the Tire and Loading Information Label, Safety Certification Label, and the Truck Camper Loading Document (if applicable) free of charge. The recall began on March 23, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
