2021 Mercedes-Benz ISOFIX Bracket May Be Missing From Child Restraint Anchor
Mercedes-Benz is recalling certain 2021 A220, A35 AMG, and CLA250 vehicles because the ISOFIX child seat anchoring bracket on the right-rear seat may be missing the right-side anchoring bar, preventing proper restraint of child car seats.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural vehicle defect affecting child safety. The ISOFIX anchoring bar may be completely missing from the right-rear seat bracket, preventing proper restraint of child car seats and increasing injury risk. This meets the rubric criterion for a structural vehicle defect.
Plain-English summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling certain 2021 A220, A35 AMG, and CLA250 vehicles. The child seat anchoring system (ISOFIX) on the right-rear seat may be missing the right-side anchoring bar from the ISOFIX bracket.
If the anchoring bar is missing, child restraints cannot be properly secured to the seat using the ISOFIX system. This increases the risk of injury for a child traveling in that seat.
Dealers will inspect the right-rear ISOFIX bracket and replace it if necessary, free of charge. The remedy began on March 16, 2021. Owners should contact Mercedes-Benz customer service at 1-800-367-6372 or visit www.safercar.gov for more information.
