TAP Recalls Rubicon Express Suspension Lift Kits for Jeep Gladiator

TAP Worldwide is recalling certain Rubicon Express suspension lift kits for 2020-2021 Jeep Gladiators because the fitment guide inaccurately lists 40-inch tires as compatible, which can affect vehicle stability.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where vehicle stability is compromised, increasing the risk of a crash, but no specific injuries or fatalities are reported in the source text.

Plain-English summary

TAP Worldwide, LLC is recalling certain Rubicon Express 4.5" and 5.5" Super-Flex suspension lift kits, Universal lift kits, Arm lift kits, and W/GCB lift kits sold for installation on 2020-2021 Jeep Gladiator vehicles. The affected part numbers are JT7147, JT7099, JT7102, and JT7145.

The fitment guide for these lift kits may have inaccurately stated that 40" tires are compatible with the kit. However, installation of 40" tires can affect vehicle stability in certain emergency maneuvering situations, which increases the risk of a crash.

TAP will notify owners and replace the fitment guide. If necessary, TAP will also replace 40" tires with tires of an appropriate size, free of charge. The recall began on September 2, 2020. Owners may contact TAP customer service at 1-888-376-1417 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
