Plain-English summary

Arcimoto Inc. is recalling certain 2017-2018 FUV motorcycles. The recall addresses a defect where the headlights may be spaced too far apart to appear as a motorcycle to oncoming traffic. As a result, the motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Lamps, reflective devices, and associated Equipment."

Due to the improperly positioned headlamps, the vehicle may not be recognizable as a motorcycle in the dark, increasing the risk of crash.

Arcimoto has notified all affected owners and the motorcycles are within the manufacturer's control. Arcimoto will replace the headlights with supplemental amber marker lights and add fully compliant headlights to the center of the vehicle, mounted to the frame, free of charge. The recall began January 14, 2019. Owners may contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
