Arcimoto hybrid electric vehicles high voltage connector latch defect

Arcimoto is recalling certain 2019-2022 model year hybrid electric vehicles with a high voltage connector defect that may detach, causing sudden loss of power steering and drive power.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: This is a documented structural vehicle defect affecting critical safety features (power steering and drive power). While no injuries have been reported, the defect presents a clear and immediate safety risk of sudden power loss during vehicle operation.

Plain-English summary

Arcimoto Inc. is recalling certain 2019-2022 FUV, 2020-2022 Roadster, 2020-2022 Deliverator, and 2021 Rapid Responder hybrid electric vehicles. The high voltage control board cover may prevent the high voltage connector from latching properly to the plug.

An improperly latched connector can detach during vehicle operation, resulting in sudden loss of power steering and drive power. This creates a significant risk of crash.

Arcimoto will replace the HV control board cover free of charge. Owner notification was mailed September 14, 2022. Owners should contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293 or call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153). Approximately 581 vehicles are affected.
