What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where a crash is possible due to non-functional turn signals, but no specific injuries or fatalities are reported in the source text.
Plain-English summary
Mobility Ventures LLC is recalling certain 2015-2016 Mobility Ventures MV-1 vehicles. The recall addresses a defect where, if a rear turn signal stops working properly, the vehicle fails to adjust the turn signal flash rate frequency to warn the driver. This condition causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The defect increases the risk of a crash because the driver may be unaware that the turn signals are not working properly. Consequently, the driver may continue to use the vehicle with turn signals that do not effectively communicate the driver's intentions to other road users.
Mobility Ventures will notify owners, and dealers will upload revised software into the vehicle's body control module free of charge. The recall began on May 6, 2019, following an interim notification issued to owners on July 30, 2018. Owners may contact Mobility Ventures customer service at 1-877-681-3678 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
