Jayco Recalls 2018 Eagle Travel Trailers for Incorrect Weight Labeling

Jayco is recalling 2018 Eagle travel trailers because the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating label may be incorrect, potentially allowing the vehicle to be overloaded.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (vehicle overload leading to crash risk) where no specific injuries or fatalities have been reported in the source text, fitting the 'High' severity criteria for theoretical or unreported harm.

Plain-English summary

Jayco, Inc. is recalling certain 2018 Eagle EA, EB, and ED travel trailers. The Federal Labels and Cargo Carrying Capacity label on these vehicles may incorrectly list the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) as 11,750 lbs, when the actual GVWR is 11,700 lbs. This discrepancy means the vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

An incorrect GVWR label can allow the vehicle to be overloaded, which increases the risk of a crash. The recall affects 461 units.

Jayco will notify owners and provide them with a corrected label free of charge. The recall began on February 13, 2018. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901373. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
