Eldorado is recalling 2017 Axess, Arrivo, XHF, and E-Z Rider II buses because seat belt buckles may be stuck, preventing use.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a safety restraint defect that increases the risk of injury in a crash, but the source text does not report any actual injuries or fatalities, fitting the 'High' criteria for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Eldorado National-California, Inc. is recalling certain 2017 Axess, E-Z Rider, XHF, and Arrivo buses. These vehicles are equipped with specific Recaro Commercial Bus Driver Seats, including models Ergo R, Ergo D, AM71, AM72, and AM80.
In the affected seats, the seat belt buckle may be stuck in the locked position. This defect prevents the seat belt tongue from being inserted and locked. If the seat belt is stuck, the bus may be operated without the seat belt being used, which increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Eldorado National will notify owners, and dealers will replace the buckle housings free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2017. Owners may contact Eldorado National customer service at 1-909-591-9557 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
