McNeilus Recalls 2016-2017 Bridgemaster V Mixers Due to Backup Alarm Defect

McNeilus is recalling 2016-2017 Bridgemaster V concrete mixers because the backup alarm and camera may shut off during extended reversing, increasing injury risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (vehicle backup alarm failure) where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the High severity criteria.

Plain-English summary

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. is recalling certain 2016-2017 Bridgemaster V concrete mixers. The affected vehicles are equipped with both FLEX Controls and an optional broadband backup alarm.

The recall is due to a defect where the backup camera display may shut off and the alarm may stop sounding if the truck is in reverse for an extended period of time. If the alarm stops emitting sound while the truck is still reversing, others may not be alerted that the truck is backing up, which increases the risk of personal injury.

Dealers will add a relay into the electrical circuit for the backup alarm system free of charge. Owners may contact McNeilus customer service at 1-507-374-6321 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
