Plain-English summary
Terex South Dakota, Inc. is recalling certain 2007-2016 Terex Aerial Devices and Digger Derricks equipped with specific aerial devices and digger derricks used for utility line work. The affected models include the C4000, FC, HR, HRX, SCM, TC, TCX, TL, TPL, and XT.
The recall is due to a defect in the onboard electrical socket's Ground Fault Protection Equipment (GFPE) breaker. In the event of a short circuit from a plugged-in tool, the breaker may not trip at the proper current before the user receives an electrical shock. This lack of proper protection increases the risk of injury to the user.
Owners will be notified by Terex South Dakota. Dealers will replace the existing breakers with Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) breakers that trip at a lower current, free of charge. The recall began on June 27, 2017. Owners may contact TSD Customer Service at 1-800-982-8975 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
